CD32 games list. OUT = I or my agents have seen it on the shelf
IMMINENT = Do I really need to explain?
Date = The softco/supplier date!!!
* = Decidely iffy. (Probably not in other words)
There are titles for which the softco/supplier won't talk about, or I
can't get hold of them. These are marked by !!!!! in the UK Number
field.
All comments and updates gratefully received!
NEW IN
======
Arcade Pool - Loads of different pool games, Pubmosphere soundtracks,
(or silence thankfully). Great! See the demo on CD32 Gamer No.4
Beneath a Steel Sky - Well received futuristic adventure. Anybody
want to expand?
Bubble'n'Sqeauk - Unusual platformer which received an odd review.
Cannon Fodder - No cartooney intro, maybe a CD soundtrack, but an
excellent game, at the same price as the floppy version. Buy it!!
See the demo on CD32 Gamer No.2
Donk - Bleuch, another platformer...
Fields of Glory - Bring closer European Union by re-enacting the
battle of Waterloo....
Guardian - 3D Defender? see the demo on AmigaCD32 Spring.
Jetstrike - 200 missions, lots of LOUD samples, decent audio tracks,
See the demo on CD32 Gamer No.4; if you like it, get it!!
Kid Chaos - jamesp mumbles a sighting in Debenhams of all places, am
I imagining it or was there an extraordinarily mediocre review for
the floppy version?
Littl Divil - Looks lovely, but is it another Dragons Lair? Won't
do the CD32 any harm if it is crap, the hype susceptible will still
buy it and it might even impress some CD32 potential buyers.
Soccer kid, er, football game, and platformer, perfect combination,
I'll hate it.
Superfrog - for the person who needs ANOTHER platform game.....
See the demo on CD32 Gamer No.4
Super Methane Bros. - Oh wonderful, an amusing platform game....
UFO Enemy Unknown - Dunno much, sounds like the same sort of game
as Sabre Team, but raved about on floppy and PC versions.
Universe - Don't know much, besides that on floppy it's had two
excellent reviews, and two awful reviews. You don't expect me to
buy EVERY game that comes out do you??
Wild Cup Soccer - Do YOU like soccer??

GAMES WISH LIST
===============
Looks like the releases are starting to emerge from their summer
slumber.
When will LucasArts adventures be on the CD32? Adventuresoft aren't bad
in the meantime though!
Also on the wish list is to be able to walk into the games store
and find most of the games on the released list on the shelf rather
than a few copies of some games released ages ago.
OUTRAGEOUS RUMOUR MONGERING
===========================
TFX Cancelled for the CD32!
Inferno cancelled for the CD32!
Doom! Acid working on a Doom demo for CD32 Gamer No.7!
Skidmarks CD32 not finished, being heavily revamped for CD, could have
eight car play when finished, it WILL be worth waiting for, they promised
me. Will be released the same time as the floppy AGA version :^) Demo
rumoured on CD32 Gamer No.6, due mid November.
No more cheesy Ashley Cotter-Cairns samples! And I hate his damn
shirts too..... It looks like AmigaCD! has disappeared.
Bullfrog not supporting the CD32. They are now puppets of EA, a major
3DO shareholder, and so it looks almost certain that unless 3DO fails,
EA will stop at nothing to kill off the CD32 by strangling Bullfrog for
starters. Thank god they don't own anybody else.
TFX and Inferno on the rocks, reportedly due to slowdown problems and
a lacklustre PC reception respectively. Don't hold your breath.
PRODUCTS
========
Microbotics SX1 expansion features parallel, serial, floppy,
IDE and through ports, with room for 8Meg of RAM. Available for
199.99 quid. Indi (0543) 419999.
A keyboard is 44.99 and a floppy drive 48.99.
Multimedia Machine have released an SX1 pack including A CDTV floppy
drive and keyboard, they're selling it for 299 UKP. Also included
are four PD CD's crammed with stuff, not a bad deal really.
They have their own expansion, ARCHIE, which will feature
a CDTV k/b, floppy and a parallel interface, for 200 UKP. Depends
what you want really, they can be reached on (0204) 387410.
If Commodore pulls through, it's own expansion which sits underneath
the CD32 will be released in Spring, with the same functionality as
the SX1, but including the keyboard and floppy drive (and Amiga ones
too) for the same 199 UKP price tag.
A professional rack mount expansion is available, but at 400 quid
is a little bit of overkill. Rumours state that a small planetary
system is run by one of these beasts. They have plans for a desktop
unit, as yet unconfimed, they're waiting for CBM's future to emerge.
Competition Pro have released a replacement joypad for 19.99 UKP.
It has all the buttons colour coded, separate auto-fires for all
buttons, and looks a damn sight nicer to use. Get one!!
